Summary

"The Arabesque Table is full to the brim with dishes which are rooted in tradition and at the same time creatively (and deliciously!) transcend it。 It is wonderful!" —Yotam Ottolenghi

"A dazzling set of recipes from Reem Kassis" —Nigel Slater

"Reem Kassis's cookbooks tell of her Palestinian family, while giving a modern twist to such dishes as fatteh, lentil soup and pistaschio cake" —The Observer Food Monthly

Acclaimed author Reem Kassis returns with a one-of-a-kind collection of original contemporary recipes tracing the rich history of Arab cuisine。

The Arabesque Table takes inspiration from the traditional food of the Arab world, weaving Reem Kassis's historic research and cultural knowledge with her contemporary interpretations of an ancient, remarkably diverse cuisine。

In her personal, engaging voice, Reem bridges past and present to open up the world of Arabic cooking today, showcasing a mosaic of 130 delicious, accessible home recipes。 Organized by primary ingredient, the recipes and vivid photographs bring the dishes to life while her narrative offers not only a sense of taste, but a sense of time and place as well。

More than just a compilation of modern Arabic recipes, The Arabesque Table celebrates the evolution of Arab cuisine and the stories of cross-cultural connection it recounts, paying tribute to the history and journey that have led to this point。

With the past on full display in this heavily researched and exciting book, you will find dishes from the Golden Age of Islam: like Narjissiya (a fava bean and egg hash) and  Makmoora (a layered chicken, onion and pine nut pot pie), as well as contemporary and globally inspired interpretations: like Tahini Cheesecake and Caramelized Butternut Squash Fatteh with Za'atar, revealing a cuisine that is vibrant, nourishing, and exciting, but above all, reminding us of how powerful food is in defining the relationship between people, place and identity。

This one wasn't as good as ACOMAF was, and it felt crazy long。 I barely remember half the plot, except for the ending。 Despite that it was still a good book, and the characters were even more developed in this one。 This one wasn't as good as ACOMAF was, and it felt crazy long。 I barely remember half the plot, except for the ending。 Despite that it was still a good book, and the characters were even more developed in this one。 。。。more

I can’t remember the last time I got swept up in a series like I did this one。 I’ve discovered a balance in the past couple years and where reading used to be the end all, it now has a place with so many other things I enjoy。 Life, I try to live it, it is so short after all。 So, I read a lot but I do other things too。 This series completely threw that balance out the window! I did not want to anything but read and when I finished one book I had to immediately start the next and thankfully, I have two more still to read。 My Mom actually called me today to see if I was alive。 I guess I’ll kind of review the first three books here since I never really took the time to stop and review the others。 So far, this series has been one great read after another。 It wasn’t perfect and there were some things here and there that I questioned or rolled my eyes at but the rest, it grabbed me and swept me away to Fairy and I loved it there。 The world, the characters, the action, the politics and the romance。 My God the romance。 I’m still left a little shaken over that part of the story。 Some good shakes and some bad shakes, but wow, what a romance。I am so glad I finally rolled the dice and read something off my list I’ve promised to get to but never do。 I am for sure changing my approach to that list going forward because this was such a great escape and I really want more escapes just like it。That’s it, I have the next book to start。 。。。more

so much happened in this book i feel like i can’t even accurately describe how i feel about it。 there were so many twists and turns and indescribable moments throughout the whole entire thing i feel like i have ptsd from reading it🧍🏾‍♀️i loved feyre’s character development and the way that none of the story felt slow, or like it was dragging on at all。 i really only rated it 4/5 stars cause mist & fury is still my fav😄

I was honestly a little bored near the middle of this book, but the ending made it all worth it。 Sarah J。 Maas continues to surprise me and leave me wanting more。 I am so excited to read A Court of Frost and Starlight next!

I。。。。 don’t really know what to say。 My expectations after ACOMAF were high, maybe a little TOO high but this。。。 this was a plane crash。 The first part was quite good, the second mildly interesting, and the third one soooooooooooooo boring。 Honestly, what was that?? It feels unfair to compare this one to the second one, which was perfection incarnate, but if I do compare this one wasn't as good as A Court of Mist and Fury。 It did bring the characters I loved and cared about, but it's more plot based than character based, and parts of it felt rushed (which feels ridiculous to say, given that it's a behemouth of over 700 pages)。 Still, the writing is lush and evocative, the story was riveting, and the first part in particular kept me breathless and on my toes It feels unfair to compare this one to the second one, which was perfection incarnate, but if I do compare this one wasn't as good as A Court of Mist and Fury。 It did bring the characters I loved and cared about, but it's more plot based than character based, and parts of it felt rushed (which feels ridiculous to say, given that it's a behemouth of over 700 pages)。 Still, the writing is lush and evocative, the story was riveting, and the first part in particular kept me breathless and on my toes。 Still a very good book。 。。。more

Bueno, bueno。。。 ¿Qué decir y qué no decir?

I loved this book。 So many twists and turns。 It was so exciting, full of action and adventure。 Many loose ends were were tightened and questions answered。 When things fell into place it was so satisfying and when things connected it made me so happy。 You get to know the world a lot more。 Sarah dives into the characters and their relationships with much more depth and the plot was just stellar。 I’m in awe of this series I can’t get enough。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Strong enough to conclude the first trilogy of the saga, but weaker than ACOMAF to me。 I liked the book as a whole, but struggled with the beginning and some parts of the ending。 So we start of where ACOMAF ended, with Feyre back at the Spring Court because Tamlin just couldn’t accept the fact that she left him, and basically forced her to go back。 Feyre pretends to be back in love with him, but secretly just uses the opportunity to get revenge on him and Ianthe for forcing her back to the Sprin Strong enough to conclude the first trilogy of the saga, but weaker than ACOMAF to me。 I liked the book as a whole, but struggled with the beginning and some parts of the ending。 So we start of where ACOMAF ended, with Feyre back at the Spring Court because Tamlin just couldn’t accept the fact that she left him, and basically forced her to go back。 Feyre pretends to be back in love with him, but secretly just uses the opportunity to get revenge on him and Ianthe for forcing her back to the Spring Court, using her sisters in their politics with Hybern, and hurting her Night Court family。 Feyre was cunning in her vengeance, and while I believe that this part of the book was meant to show off her arc and make her live up to her High Lady status, i struggled with it。 I found it to be trying too hard, and somewhat rushed (even though I was really bored with it at the same time)。 I had a better time with the middle of the book because it seemed to have a more natural pace。 Events in the middle seemed to happen more organically, and just made more sense than in the first part of the book。 I did find Feyre’s constant referral to being High Lady a bit frustrating, and kind of forced。 I suppose she’s never felt like a leader even though throughout her story, she had always filled that role naturally, even without the status。 I kind of found the ways in which the characters get saved in the end to be a bit too convenient for my liking。 It just seemed a bit too easy that Tamlin was actually a triple agent, and that Jurian was actually sane and not vengeful after all。 But I guess there had to be a way for our characters to get saved at the end。 I also found it so convenient that their father ends up being one of their saviors at the end, even though we’ve seen him actively let them starve because he lost his will to be a responsible father。 But I suppose there had to be a way for the girls to live in Velaris without the nagging reminded that their father was still alive。 It just seemed like it was such a convenient solution for all the problems his being alive posed。 I also didn’t get what was up with Nesta’s powers。 I mean, so much foreshadowing was done about how powerful she really is, only for that underwhelming scene to happen with the King of Hybern, and her depleting her reserves after two strikes at him, after which he doesn’t even die or seem significantly injured。 Rhys dying, while a bit surprising, didn’t touch me as much as I thought it would because at that point in the book, it was already clear that no main characters would actually die lol。 I also don’t understand why we got those two chapters from his point of view because they added absolutely nothing to the story!! I also kind of found myself a bit tired of him in this book for some reason, despite absolutely loving his character in ACOMAF。 I did, however, love Azriel so much more! Easily my favorite character of the book! Also, I just kind of got tired of how Rhys and Feyre literally never fight/argue。 I mean, yeah they have the moments where they almost look like they might argue, but they just forgive each other and move on。 I don’t get it。 I get that Rhys is supposed to be represent the healthy equivalent of a relationship for her the way Tamlin couldn’t be, but couples disagree and argue! And them never getting or staying angry at each other just seemed a bit superficial to me。 The ending felt a bit rushed to me, even though things seem to fall into place so easily for our characters。 There were a few unanswered questions, but I guess I’ll see more in the next book。 Also, I really disliked the references to painting made randomly; I mean, I get it, Feyre paints! But I hate the little titles of the future paintings that get mentioned — sorry not sorry。 All in all, it was a good read, and I enjoyed the plot of the story (in the middle and end), and the characters even more。 I give this 3。5 stars for the gripping plot, but docked points for the conveniences and frustrations I had with the book。 Highly recommend for fans of fantasy and high stake stories where no one really important dies! 。。。more

First of all, this book wrecked me in the best way possible! It help me on so tight that I could not put it down and the ending is really where my heart was far too invested。 Second, this was one of the best books I have read probably ever and the series itself seemed kind of intimidating at first but after you start you can’t stop!!!!
